What are the Qualities of a Flight Attendant?
In here, I will share the qualities you should have to be a flight attendant.
- Getting along with different people or “”As a flight attendant, you will deal with different kind of people within the airline, airport, and on flights. It’s very important to be both flexible and approachable in this field of industry. Dealing with people is part of your job as a flight attendant. Your people skill is a must to further enjoy the job as well, in meeting new set of people every flight. Being friendly will be your edge and advantage on this.
- Knowledgeable about customer service. As a flight attendant, you will deal with customers. These customers are the flight passengers. Most of80% of your job and time is about dealing with passengers wherein they are going to ask you everything from water to blanket. Your duty is to deal with customers whatever their concern is - from happy to angry. There are training on ways to have customer service skills, but there are really people who naturally excels on it. If you enjoy making people happy, then you’ll enjoy this career and be an asset to your airline company.

- Physically Fit.As a flight attendant, the job requires physical strength wherein 80% comprises you mission for security, safety, and food and drink service every now an then during the flight. The work felt like you’re working on a fast food chain as crew like what I experienced. No idle time and you will really feel tired after your flight duty. I love this kind of job which requires physically be active and somehow ease my mind from over thinking things.
- Open to changes or being flexible.As a flight attendant, your schedules are plotted monthly but it might change because of some instances just like when the aircraft got stuck in other country. With that, you might end up on standby duty, or going on different flight, or going home. Anytime of the day, your schedule may change. You must cope to changes to your schedules.
These qualities of pakikisama, having customer service skills, being physically and flexible fit will let you know if the flight attendant career is for you. The flight attendant career requires skills which an applicant should have prior to the interview or open day to prepare and be ready of how the airline industry works. And the airlines set standards and qualities of flight attendant to represent the image of the company.
