My Flight Attendant Story | Miss Kaykrizz

My flight attendant story began when I was 19 years old, a college student. I have a cousin whom I look up to because she’s beautiful, taking up medicine, and Ms. Valentine at Cebu Doctors. She sent a message informing me that there will be the Qatar Airways Open Day in Marriot Hotel and I should go. That time, I’m not prepared because of my attire, photos, etc. I went, amazed, and overwhelmed of the place and people because I felt like I’m in audition for Pinoy Big Brother, everyone looks good, they are different nationalities, and others. I felt happy because it’s in Cebu and everything was first for me. I think the recruiter only spent 5 seconds talking to me, wherein I showed a picture standing like a model with trees as my background which was not the appropriate photo because it should be on a blue background instead. Plus I wore a mini shirt, white blouse, and louse hair. Then I was invited for the Day 2 of application. I tried to fit more for the position. I passed the exam but failed in the group discussion. I had the good experience because out of the 600 applicants in Day 1, they only chose 50 candidates and I am included on that. I was very happy of my first application with Qatar Airways. The recruiters also told us to better look on our performance and areas to improve because they we are very much welcome to try again for the next open day that they will conduct.

After that, I finished college and worked as a call center agent. Then, one of my gay friend invited me to apply again with Qatar Airways and I said go. The result was still the same, I got eliminated on Day 2. The feedback given bothered me much. Moving to my life, I’ve been through with some family issues and wanted independence for myself. I love Cebu but I planned to move in Singapore to work as a call center agent, nurse, or a cabin crew. Then, I tried to apply inn Cebu Pacific, PAL Express, and Air Asia. Whatever comes first, I’ll go for it. I passed both in PAL and PAL Express, but I chose the later because I’ll be based in Cebu and I didn’t have much budget to go to Manila. I undergone PAL Express training. I started loving my job, make-up, and beauty. Though, I learned a lot from my experience as a call center agent like my English skills, sales, and customer service but then I don’t like sitting for 8 hours and rather enjoyed more the daily routine of a flight attendant. My dreams became bigger because I aimed to be an international flight attendant and go to Paris, travel around the world. I tried and came to every single open day for Qatar, Emirates, etc.

The struggle is real in applying as an international flight attendant. There were times that our day off will be spent for an open day in Manila. We took the first flight at 4am then arrived at 6am and the open day started at 8am. We waited for the feedback until the end of the day and flight back again to Cebu to take the 6am flight duty. It was hard to do your job when your demotivated because of the rejection you have experienced. I did it for a couple of times with friends. The time came that I felt tired in applying and trying, but just kept it to myself. All applications were so difficult.

I almost got in for Qatar Airways but due to  some circumstances, they cancelled it and I’m back to square one of applying. Then suddenly, my friend got in and invited me to apply also in their airline. I got in and I was every happy to flight with her. I felt proud of everything I’ve been through, from all that struggles and rejection.

Definitely, the very purpose God had sent me through the challenges I faced to land in my dream job as an international flight attendant. Writing down information, practice, and prepare all the possible things that might help me to get the job. The timing had set me to learn a lot, the very purpose I wrote a book.
